Cochrane Fast Guns (CFG) was founded in 1999 by Linda and Richard Benedictson of Cochrane, Alberta and Brenda Gay of Red Deer. Their goal and purpose for founding CFG was to promote the sport of fast draw throughout Alberta and Canada. Richard has been involved in the sport of fast draw for some 40 years, with Linda being relatively new with 6 years experience. A huge success for CFG is the annual Canadian Fast Draw Championship which has been successfully hosted by the group from 1999 to the present day. Living in the Cochrane area, Linda and Richard found it was easier to form their own fast draw and show group to accomplish their goal and purpose. They are joined by Brenda Gay, their daughter, also with 6 years experience  in the sport who takes part in the trick shooting shows CFG is hired to perform. In 2001 Linda and Richard Benedictson were honoured by the Town of Cochrane and Chamber of Commerce with the prestigious award of Ambassadors of the Year for their efforts in promoting Cochrane and area to other Alberta communities and to the different venues they compete at in the United States.Cochrane Fast Guns are for hire and will travel throughout Alberta or to the United States to entertain audiences both young and old. Performances run between 15 and 20 minutes of fast paced action, which includes fast draw demonstrations, fancy gun handling and spinning, trick shooting and vignettes of the old time silver screen cowboy heroes. Linda and Brenda assist Richard in these fast paced shows demonstrating their fast draw skills. Richard has appeared in several CBS made for TV westerns such as Gunsmoke: Return to Dodge, Blood River and The Jack Bull to name a few.
